The basic exercise, apparently simple, if not stupid, consists in contemplating a stone or a flower; the observation includes successively various levels. At the end, you'll see that this object includes a whole series of facets arousing impressions. These impressions are usually neglected and are however present in the subconscious.
One may observe an object at different levels. Take the time, several minutes at each level for looking on, for feeling, for assimilating.
- Sensory: lines, form, texture, color, nuances
- Attractive: is it pleasant or disgusting?
- Intellectual: ideas related, to what does it make us think?
- Qualitative: which quality is infusing is us?
This last level assumes to reach the fusion subject-object which is contemplation: the object is with us within the consciousness.
